How to Book a Holiday Weekend Tee Time When City Hall Is Closed

City Hall is closed. The rec center is dark. That is not a closed tee sheet. Some municipal shops stay open on a holiday Monday. Some charge weekend or holiday rates. Some weekday passes do not work. Some close on Thanksgiving or Christmas. Read that city's holiday page, then book the open course.

Open, closed, or holiday-rate

Do not treat every federal Monday as a lockout. Named public shops publish opposite holiday rules, and they do not even use the same name for Monday, 12 October 2026.

Seattle Parks and Recreation, posted 7 October 2026, closes community centers, indoor pools, and rec programs on Indigenous Peoples' Day. The same notice keeps golf courses and ranges open on regular or modified schedules. A dark rec-center door there is not a dark starter's window.

City of Albuquerque closes city offices, community centers, and libraries on 12 October 2026. The same holiday page says golf courses stay open and operational. The Albuquerque golf page already prices 12 October 2026, 7 September 2026, and 11 November 2026 at holiday rates, and it lists Indigenous Peoples' Day on the holiday-rate calendar. Christmas is the close. Courses are otherwise open 364 days, weather permitting, dawn to dusk. A senior annual pass there is weekday golf excluding holidays. The regular annual pass is seven days a week.

Brady Municipal in Texas lists Columbus Day with Martin Luther King Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, and Labor Day as exception-open days. Regular Mondays there are members-only. Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day are closed. Do not carry a Brady Monday habit onto Columbus Day, and do not carry a Brady Columbus Day habit onto Thanksgiving.

Green Hill Municipal in Worcester stays open on Columbus Day and treats it as a holiday for fees and passes. The 2026 guide, approved at the October 2025 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, prices Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays together. Weekday and senior weekday passes are not valid on Columbus Day. Junior permits are not valid on weekends or holidays. The course closes Thanksgiving Day. Fall hours in September and October open at 8am. The Worcester Parks page is the city listing for that shop.

Balboa Park stays open on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve, with adjusted hours of 6am to 5pm. The 2026 rate table prices Saturday, Sunday, and holidays together. Junior monthly and annual tickets are valid Monday through Friday beginning at twilight and are not valid on holidays. That is an open book at the holiday rate, not a closed shop.

Monmouth County Parks prices Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays on one column. Holiday rates take effect on Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, and Thanksgiving observances. The fee sheet is dated 17 February 2026 and takes effect 1 March 2026. A Monday that looks like a weekday on your calendar can still be the weekend column at that shop.

Write down the holiday page first

Open the city holiday notice and the course rate page, not only the live tee sheet. Write four things:

Whether that shop stays open, closes, or posts modified hours
Whether the holiday uses weekday, weekend, or holiday rates
Whether a weekday pass, junior ticket, or Youth on Course window is void that day
Whether Monday is normally members-only, and whether this Monday is an exception

Then write one backup course whose holiday page you have already read. If you are still fighting that backup's original release, use the 7-day and 14-day public book notes. This guide is for the weekend the city calendar says holiday.

Book the holiday clock, not the weekday habit

A weekday login does not guarantee a weekday price. Albuquerque already posted holiday rates for 12 October 2026. Monmouth moves Columbus Day onto the Friday-through-holiday column. Green Hill weekday passes do not cover Columbus Day. Pay the holiday rate, or pick a shop whose pass still works.

City of Columbus Recreation and Parks keeps Youth on Course off holidays at Airport and Wilson Road. Mentel Memorial still sells that window on weekends and holidays after 3pm. A junior rate from a Tuesday afternoon does not travel with you onto a holiday Monday.

Brady's regular Monday is members-only. Columbus Day is one of the exception-open days. If you hit a members-only Monday that is not on that exception list, you are on the identity problem in the public versus member sheet notes, not a holiday close.

Green Hill takes advance times on the website up to seven days out. Phone bookings there are day-of only. Weekend and holiday starts before 10am off the first tee are 18 holes only. If the Saturday is already grey

A holiday weekend still fills. If Saturday is already leftovers, use the last-minute Saturday guide for cancellations and shop holds. Do not wait for City Hall to reopen on Tuesday and invent a Saturday morning. The shop that stayed open on Monday already sold that book.

What not to do

Do not treat a closed rec center, library, or 311 line as a closed golf shop. Seattle and Albuquerque keep golf open while those counters close.
Do not treat one city's holiday name as a national rule. Albuquerque and Seattle post Indigenous Peoples' Day. Brady, Green Hill, and Monmouth post Columbus Day. Read the page for the Monday you want.
Do not show up with a weekday pass on a holiday-rate day and argue with the starter. Green Hill and Albuquerque already printed the exception.
Do not send a booking bot at a shop that bans automation. You lose the account and the walk-up on the open holiday sheet.

Only if that shop says so. Seattle and Albuquerque stay open on 12 October 2026. Brady lists Columbus Day as exception-open and closes Thanksgiving and Christmas. Do I pay the weekday rate?

Not when that shop prices the day as a holiday. Albuquerque already named 12 October 2026 as a holiday-rate day. Monmouth puts Columbus Day on the Friday-through-holiday column. Green Hill and Balboa price holidays with Friday through Sunday. Ask the shop which column you are in before you assume Monday is cheap.

After you read this week's holiday notice and the rate page. Ask whether the shop is open, whether the holiday rate replaced the weekday special, and whether a weekday pass still works. The call confirms that shop. It does not replace the posted calendar.
